LAKE MARTIN TOP 10 : OCTOBER 22, 2015

10: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The 8th Annual Lake Martin Golf Classic was a huge success! ‘Special Thanks’ to all the golfers, the Corporate Sponsors, StillWater’s and Camp Star! Because of everyone’s efforts and support again this year, we are able to donate $5,000.00 to Camp Star! CLICK HERE to see how the money provided opportunities last year!
9: Lake Martin’s Own Gail Rutherford will be signing copies of her new book, “Peeking at the World Over Foster Grants at Night”, Saturday 24th, at Lakeside Mercantile. This is a book of free form, stream of consciousness poetry! Come meet Gail!
8: New Golf Pro at StillWater’s! Drop by StillWater’s Golf and meet Rob Witherington, the new PGA Professional at StillWater’s! If his name sounds familiar, he was here as General Manager and PGA Pro from 1996 to 2001. Great things are happening every day at StillWater’s!!
7: Fall Festival at Russell Crossroads next weekend! Canning and Baking Contest at the Fall Family Festival!!  Pull out your grandmother’s blue ribbon recipes and whip up some pies, pickles, fig preserves, jams, jellies or whatever, and enter your favorites in the competition. Bring them by on Oct 31st…we will judge at noon! CLICK HERE for more details about this family fun event!

6: Now that the weather has the lake in a calm mode, it’s a good time to read more about the owners of our great Lake Restaurants…this week we want to share a little about THE LANDING! Seven years after he got out of TV and radio, longtime Birmingham sportscaster, Herb Winches, is back in his element. The playing field has changed, but he’s still the same ol’ Herb. These days, you’ll find Winches running a waterfront, open air restaurant and bar, The Landing at Parker Creek. He and a business partner opened in June, in Coosa County on the northwest shore of Lake Martin. For the entire article CLICK HERE.

5: It’s Bass Tournament time! Lake Martin is well known for their incredible fishing tournaments. There is one this weekend at Wind Creek “Angling for Autism”. Call Stephanie Weldon at 334.415.9372, or email her. To find out about all the fishing tournaments out of Wind Creek, CLICK HERE!

4: Annual Wine Auction keeps growing! Approximately 45 auction lots, including trips to France and Hawaii, as well as tickets to the Alabama-LSU game will be auctioned off while guests enjoy dinner prepared by chefs at ‘The Club’, alongside Rob McDaniel of SpringHouse on Lake Martin. For more information CLICK HERE!

3: Island of the Week! PIRATE ISLAND! Latitude 32.83305 Longitude -85.85845

A small island at the mouth of Madwind Creek that local residents have decorated and maintain with Pirate regalia, including the Jolly Roger, dead pirate skeleton, cannon, and of course the treasure chest. Great place to stop and quench your thirst mates!!
